Smoothed Area charts have the same advantages as a regular area chart. The main difference is that the trendline doesn’t move directly between points (resulting in a jagged line), but flows smoothly.
This makes it even easier for users to follow trend information, but means that reading the values by axis unreliable.
TIPS: Remember to consider what you want your line chart to show. If you only want trend information, then smoothing out the line is an excellent choice.
