Column Chart - Basic

Column Charts are one of the most commonly used charts in dashboards. Showing data in a column chart lets you see how KPI values change over time. They are sometimes called Bar Charts, though these are usually horizontal.

This makes them an excellent choice for representing Quantitative KPIs, but they are also very useful for combining with other chart types to give a better perspective of your data.

TIPS: When displaying two KPIs as columns on the same chart, it is often useful to display one of the columns on a secondary Y-axis. KPIs which have vastly different ranges to each another (e.g. Units sold and Sales Revenue) benefit most from this.

Group your columns together to compare related KPIs.#Adding hover marks to a column charts adds more information without cluttering up the chart.
